Tata Electronics Breaks Ground on India’s First Semiconductor Fab in Dholera

In a landmark event for India's technological advancement, Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) has officially commenced the groundbreaking of its Rs 91,000 crore semiconductor fabrication facility at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) in Gujarat. This development marks a significant step towards realizing India’s ambition of becoming a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing.

The foundation stone was laid virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hailed the project as a "milestone" in India's journey towards technological self-reliance. With semiconductors being the backbone of modern electronics, the new fab is expected to strengthen India’s position in the global electronics supply chain, reducing dependency on foreign imports.

Set to be one of the largest investments in the sector, the Dholera fab will play a crucial role in driving India’s tech ecosystem, from smartphones to electric vehicles and more. The facility is expected to create thousands of high-skilled jobs and attract further investment in the semiconductor supply chain.

This historic project reflects the Indian government’s strong push under the "Make in India" initiative, aiming to foster innovation, boost manufacturing, and secure India’s role in future technologies.
