On May 21, 2025, the Supreme Court of India granted interim bail to Professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad of Ashoka University, following his arrest over social media posts concerning Operation Sindoor. While the Court criticized his language as "dog whistling," it ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter further. Professor Mahmudabad has been instructed to refrain from making public comments related to the case.
