Tampa Bay Rays Reveal George M. Steinbrenner Field Transformation
In a significant move, the Tampa Bay Rays have unveiled a series of photographs showcasing the transformation of George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, which will serve as their home for the 2025 season. This change comes in the wake of hurricane damage to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, necessitating a temporary relocation.

Rapid Overhaul Ahead of Opening Day

The Rays faced a tight deadline, with only 120 hours to convert the Yankees' spring training facility into a venue befitting a Major League Baseball regular season. The transformation involved over 50 installers from five companies and more than 80 staff members working around the clock. Notably, more than 3,000 individual marketing assets were installed, which, if laid end-to-end, would span over a mile.

Visual Highlights of the Transformation

The released photos provide a glimpse into the extensive rebranding efforts:

Exterior Signage: The "New York Yankees" signage was removed from the front of the team store, making way for Rays branding.

Interior Modifications: Large "NY" logos within the clubhouse were covered, and the seating areas now prominently display the Rays' sunburst logo.
Scoreboard and Marquee: The scoreboard marquee on Dale Mabry Highway now features images of Rays pitchers Shane McClanahan and Taj Bradley, accompanied by a message of gratitude towards the Yankees.

Enhanced Fan Experience

To enrich the game-day atmosphere, the Rays have introduced several new features at Steinbrenner Field:

  • Light and Sound Shows: Evening games will feature dynamic light and sound displays, with fireworks during the national anthem, after every home run, and to celebrate victories.
  • Giveaways: Fans can look forward to unique promotional items, including bobbleheads, tropical shirts, hats, and branded towels.
  • Clear-Bag Policy: A new clear-bag policy has been implemented to enhance security and streamline entry procedures.

Community and Corporate Collaboration

The successful transformation was made possible through collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Tampa Sports Authority and the Yankees organization. The Rays have expressed gratitude towards their staff, corporate partners, fans, Major League Baseball, and the broader Tampa Bay community for their support during this transition.

As the Rays prepare to kick off their 2025 season at the rebranded Steinbrenner Field, fans eagerly anticipate experiencing the revamped ballpark and cheering on their team in its new temporary home.
